Ultrasound therapy produces high-frequency sound waves via a piezoelectric crystal found in the treatment head. In order for these sound waves to effectively transmit into a patient’s tissue, ultrasound coupling gel is used to eliminate air gaps between the transducer head and the skin, which maximizes energy transmission.
There are two mode options to select depending on the condition at hand: continuous or pulsed.
Continuous mode provides deep heat to the tissue to increase blood flow, relax muscles, and improve tissue extensibility.
Pulsed mode provides microscopic vibrations to the cells, enhancing their metabolism, tissue repair, and fluid movement to reduce swelling.
